SAP Order Fulfillment & ATP

Make a Promise, Keep a Promise

Current Solution: Warehouse Management

Stop Missing Promises. Start Capturing Profit.

Every missed delivery, stockout, or backorder isn’t just a logistics failure—it’s a margin leak. For CEOs, CFOs, COOs, and CSCOs, inconsistent order fulfillment signals something deeper: strategic drag. It erodes customer trust, inflates cost-to-serve, and stalls revenue—especially when it happens despite the power of SAP already in place.

SAP’s Available to Promise (ATP) engine was built to give your business confidence in every order you commit to. But too often, that confidence is lost in a sea of misaligned priorities, broken trust in SAP dates, and manual workarounds. Reveal realigns your ATP rules, sales order processes, and fulfillment execution—so your promises become predictable, your cost-to-serve drops, and your margin goes up. No new systems. Just smarter use of the one you already own.

Executive Summary: Strategic Drag in Plain Sight

9 out of 10 SAP-run companies leave fulfillment profit on the table—trapped in spreadsheets, broken trust, and underused system logic. When ATP dates aren’t believed, sales and service rely on gut feel, leading to costly expediting, revenue delays, and backorder chaos. The result? Millions in hidden costs and untapped growth potential. Reveal bridges the gap between your strategic intent and SAP execution—so you can stop the leakage and deliver with precision.

What’s at Stake: Profit Leakage from Poor Promise Execution

Here’s what fulfillment failures really cost your business:

  • Rising fines and service credits despite having enough inventory.
  • Manual sales workarounds replacing ATP with guesswork—eroding trust in SAP.
  • Disjointed order prioritization delaying revenue and harming key accounts.
  • Backorder churn and rescheduling loops wasting planner time and increasing customer frustration.
  • Skyrocketing freight and labor costs from expediting and rework.

All of this stems from a deeper issue: SAP is capable, but it’s not being used to its full potential.

A $2.2B industrial manufacturer faced mounting customer complaints and delayed shipments due to distrust in ATP and manual availability checks. Reveal realigned their ATP logic, order processing rules, and MRP triggers to match operational realities. In just 6 months, they achieved a 17% lift in OTIF, unlocked $8M in working capital, and slashed expedited freight costs by 23%—all using the SAP they already owned.

Q&A

Q

How Can SAP Help Improve Service Levels?

SAP and S/4HANA Insights
A

SAP can help improve service levels and provides tools and functionality to support this. True improvement, however, requires a cross functional/integrated approach from planning, procurement, production on through to the shop floor, and from there through quality, warehousing/logistics and order management. SAP provides tools for oversight and management throughout the process and alerts us to potential problems.

Q

Can SAP Help Us Manage Orders Where the Customer Has Specific Receiving Days/Times?

SAP and S/4HANA Insights
A

SAP provides functionality in the form of Customer Receiving Calendars to assist organizations meeting the requirement to accept deliveries on certain dates and times. It is integrated with the specification of the requested delivery date as well as delivery scheduling and Available to Promise ATP. It has the flexibility to warn the agent that the requested date is on a non-receiving day and provide the next available date. The agent can then adjust the date or allow it in the event the customer is willing to make arrangements to accept delivery on a non-receiving day.

Q

How Can I use SAP To Help with Product Allocation?

SAP and S/4HANA Insights
A

SAP does have the ability to enforce product allocation. However, an organization needs to consider whether the functionality they are looking for is either the ability to ensure priority customers are serviced before others at all times regardless of stock levels, or whether they are looking for enforced rules pertaining to a defined quantity, percentage or “fair share” type of behavior. The functionality will determine which direction should be considered - literal product allocation or customer segmentation/prioritization in fulfillment.
